Member Since: Jul 20, 2008 Gender: Female Goal Type: Boston Qualifier Running Accomplishments: Alright it must said, my most recent completed marathon is by far my proudest running accomplishment. Though I am now a proud member of the "fast" running blog this race was by no means fast. It was 5000 ft above sea level (which I didn't realize until I got to the site location), 10 km uphill, followed by a short 2 km flat, then 3 km down a 40% grade hill, if you can't imagine how steep that is, stand up lean forward just slightly and put your arm straight out, now imagine that you touching the ground. So after you go down the hill, 10 km in deep sand, and then up the hill. I have no idea what human specimen would be able to run up that hill, so it is safe to say, I walked. Finished time: 5.52 min, ranked 12 in the female division. This was the big five marathon in South Africa...oh and did I mentioned that you are running with the wild life? This was the best experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone. You are in it for the finish that is for sure!
Short-Term Running Goals: Boston Qualifying time, as well as, complete 2 marathon on continents not yet conquered. I have North America, Africa and Europe check. Hoping to run Gold Coast Marathon in Jun 09, following by either the Great Wall or Himalaya Marathons. Long-Term Running Goals: Continued peace on the road and trails. My runs are my time and the time to get my thoughts in order and find peace and a sense of self. Personal: I love adventure "travel". Relaxing to me is doing something active on the road! |
